Please Pray for these Rabbi's Nikki met several months ago:
RABBI A. I met Rabbi A when I hosted him at a large Christian media event. He was surprised to meet someone Jewish at the event and when he learned that I was a believer in Jesus, he invited me over to have Shabbat dinner with his family on Friday night. They are very orthodox, (the most religious sect of Jews) and an incredibly lovely (and large) family. Appropriately, the Rabbi had alerted everyone at the table as to the fact that I believed in Jesus prior to my arrival, because about halfway through the dinner, one of the other family friends (an actress named Barbara) escorted me to the bathroom. Upon arrival, she closed the door behind us and said to me, “How can you be so Jewish and be worshipping a man?” I told her that was not entirely an accurate depiction of what I believed, but that I would love to discuss my belief in Jesus with her --- but perhaps not in the Rabbi’s bathroom on Shabbat. We left the dinner together and I shared amswered her questions about why I believed in Jesus as the Messiah. We spoke of getting together again. I was also invited back to the Rabbi's house for a future dinner and have shared fellowhip with them several times since then.
Please lift up Rabbi A, Barbara and my relationship with them in your prayers.
RABBI B. Every year in Los Angeles, there is an annual film festival at the Director’s guild entitled the City of Angels Film Festival. This year the theme was ‘Divine Comedy” and on the final night there was a showing of "Life is Beautiful" with a panel discussion. The panel included a Nun and a Rabbi (who is also a Hollywood agent). When the mike was open for discussion with the panel, I commented to the Rabbi on the themes of the film and mentioned the fact that my grandparents on both sides had several family members who died in the Holocaust. In the closing reception afterwards, the Rabbi came over to talk to me. When I asked him what kind of congregation he led, he told me that his was a bit ‘non-traditiional’ and ‘off the beaten path’ When he asked me what congregation I attended, I told him, ‘We’ll, I, too, am a bit ‘off the beaten path’. I’m a messianic Jew” The Rabbi immediately responded, “There Is No Such Thing!” We began a discussion for 45 minutes during which time I had the opportunity to share my testimony with the Rabbi. As it turns out, he is married to a non-Jewish woman. He asked me for a copy of Joined Together (my documentary that presents the gospel to interfaith couples) which I had on me. Pray for Rabbi B. Also. Apparently some of the actor/clients he represents are Christians, though they had never shared their faith with him.
